Archival Interventions is a curated evening of short form, non-linear experimental video and digital cinema works by contemporary lens-based artists that concentrate on recontextualizing the form, function, concept and meaning of archival material as the basis for moving image production. Appropriated and repurposed, the work will investigate the archive as an element of vernacular reproduction, critically engaging the rituals, routines and expressions of domestic life and labor. Using collective, personal, institutional and found archives, the uncovered or rediscovered mechanical images utilized foster the construction of a new memory, narrative or mnemonic device that is altered and interpreted by the participating artists.
